KORY KIRBY’S

Pressed Publishing Process

Note: The purpose of this page is to cover The Pressed Publishing Process from a general perspective. Each project has specific objectives. As your book publisher (strategist), I’ll curate my expertise and this process to facilitate what’s most important to you. The full process generally takes 9-12 months, however, you can come in and out at different points in the process.

What is it?

The Pressed Publishing Process is a 9-12 month, customized, personal guide through the book writing, editing, and publishing process. Developed, facilitated and delivered by myself. You’ll create your own publishing imprint and own 100% of rights (Copyright © you), royalties, designs, and results.

You will work directly with me. I will not dump you onto a cheap freelancer and disappear. I’m a craftsman—a bookmaker—who touches every single part of the bookmaking process. You will hear and/or see from me every week. I only have capacity for a handful of clients each year. Email info@korykirby.com to book a call.

Below is my general pricing.

Full Program?

Position -> Write & Edit -> Publish, Launch, & Market = $25,000.
+ $1,000 in misc. publishing expenses, and if applicable, + $.08/word for developmental edits, and then audiobook costs. See example below.

Phase 1?

Position = $3,500.

Phase 2?

Write & Edit = Unavailable “separately.”

Phase 3?

Publish, Launch, & Market = $15,000.
+ $1,000 in misc. publishing expenses, and if applicable, audiobook costs.

Example?

There’s about $1,000 in misc. publishing expenses (ISBNs, Barcodes, Copyright, Shipping Fees & Proofs, Advanced Reader/Author Copies, etc.)

I’ll work with you to position your book and guide you through the writing and editing. The book comes out to be 50,000 words and needs a developmental edit ($.08/word * 50,000 words = $4,000).

Then, you’d like to record your own audio book at a local studio. Studio time can cost anywhere from $30 - $200/hour. You’ll need post production. Billed at a per finished hour rate, which can range from $75 - $200/hour. Assuming a central cost ($100 for both) with a 50,000 word book, means you’ll spend about $1,500 on your audiobook.

In total: $25,000 (my fee) + $1,000 (misc. expenses) + $4,000 (developmental editor) + $1,500 (audiobook) = $31,500.
